A GUIDE TO THAI
Consonants At the beginning of a word, consonants are generally pronounced as in English except for the following:

as in get (not gin) |
| ng |
a single sound which you are familiar with in English at the end of words such as wrong and sing but which also occurs at the beginning of Thai words. |
| bp |
a single sound which is somewhere between b and p. The sound occurs in English words such as speak, sport and sparkling. |
| dt |
a single sound that occurs in the beginning of Thai words. The sound occurs in English in the forms of stop, statue and style. |
Vowels Vowels are pronounced as follows:

Other sounds, however, have no near English equivalent, and you may need to ask our staff to gain a proper idea of how they should be pronounced.
